Carmen Austin, CCIM has been a practicing commercial real estate broker in Baton Rouge, LA with over 20 years experience specializing in retail leasing and investment sales. She has held the top producer title in her firm for several consecutive years in the running. Carmen attended Louisiana State University where she was a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and a member of Delta Gamma Fraternity. She completed her undergraduate degree in Arts and Sciences in May 1999. Carmen then went on to receive a Master of Business Administration with Specializations in Real Estate Finance and Entrepreneurship in May 2004. During her graduate studies, Carmen participated with the LSU Real Estate Research Institute to gain insight into the latest developments in statistical analysis of factors affecting real estate trends and values. Carmen has been a resident of Baton Rouge, Louisiana for over twenty-seven years, in which she has gained great knowledge and expertise of the local commercial real estate market.

Carmen obtained her Real Estate License in 2001 and has experience on such special projects as the site selection and acquisition of Briarwood Golf Course for Woman’s Hospital in 2002 as well as in commercial investment sales, leasing, and property management. In 2006, she received the prestigious CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation, in which she had to complete a series of graduate-level courses and exams, and produce a qualifying portfolio of her commercial real estate transactions. From 2007-2009, Carmen was employed as Regional Director of Leasing for Commercial Properties Realty Trust, a privately-held REIT and the for-profit arm of the Baton Rouge Area Foundation. In 2008 Carmen earned her real estate broker’s license.









In 2009, Carmen returned as Associate Broker at Saurage Rotenberg Commercial Real Estate where she is the top producer multiple years in a row specializing in retail transactions, Class A office tenant and landlord representation, and investment sales.

Carmen has served on the Louisiana CCIM Chapter Board of Directors since 2005 in such positions as PR Chair, Social Chair, Scholarship Chair, 2008 Secretary / Treasurer, 2009 President/Elect and 2010 Chapter President. Carmen is a member of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Louisiana Realtors (LR), Baton Rouge’s Commercial Investment Division (CID), Louisiana Commercial Data Base (LACDB) and the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) where she served on the Planning Committee for the Gulf South Exchange. Since 2004, Carmen has served as VP on the Board of Directors for the LSU MBA Alumni Association and was chair of the Annual Louisiana Looking Up! She served on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors for the Baton Rouge Gallery and Chair of the Strategic Development and Long-Range Planning Committee. Carmen’s community involvement includes being a long-time volunteer for Junior Achievement and the Mary Bird Perkins Pro/Am Golf Tournament, and she is the past Business Development and Support Chair for the Junior League of Baton Rouge’s River Road Recipes Steering Committee. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League.
Carmen is a graduate of the CCIM Institute’s prestigious Jay W. Levine Leadership Academy Class of 2011. Carmen currently serves on a national level on the CCIM Institute’s Marketing Committee and Members Services Committee and is the Past Chair of the Networking Subcommittee and is an elected member of the National CCIM Institute’s governing Board of Directors since 2013. She is also a current member of the CCIM Institute’s Education Foundation Board of Directors since 2013. Carmen’s interests include community involvement with a focus on the revitalization of Baton Rouge’s Downtown and Mid-City in which she has worked closely with both the Downtown Development District and the Mid-City Redevelopment Alliance. Carmen is consistently the reigning top producer in her firm.
